Marty Gilmore, DVM, MS

Dr. Marty Gilmore is a proud Prairie Village native and Shawnee Mission East graduate who has always believed in caring for people by caring for their pets. After earning both his DVM and graduate degrees from Kansas State University, he completed a small-animal internship in Chicago before returning home to Kansas City 25 years ago. Since then, he has founded and led both Mill Creek Animal Hospital and Somerset Animal Hospital — experiences that shaped his deep commitment to community-focused veterinary care.

Dr. Gilmore enjoys every part of general practice, from wellness care to complex cases. He has particular interests in internal medicine, feline medicine, and dermatology, and he loves helping families understand their pets’ health in a clear, compassionate way.

Marty and his wife live in Prairie Village with their five children — two of whom are now grown — and their beloved English Bulldog, Dude. When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find him cheering on KC and K-State sports, following Chelsea Football Club or the Detroit Red Wings, or traveling and scuba diving with his wife.
