Dr. Martin D. Gilmore
Dr. Gilmore is a native of Prairie Village. In December of 2018, Dr. Gilmore bought Somerset with a commitment to Prairie Village and the surrounding communities to further expand a new stardard of care. Dr. Gilmore received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Immunopathology from Kansas State University. He is a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
“I have come to realize that I most cherish being able to empower pet owners to be better stewards of their furry family members,” he says, “and contributing to that special bond between person and pet.”
Following completion of an internship at a large specialty and referral center in Chicago, he returned home to Kansas City. Dr. Gilmore has particular interest in all aspects of feline and internal medicine, as well as dentistry, oral surgery, ultrasound, and preventative health care. In his spare time Dr. Gilmore works in his wood shop and is a US Soccer Association Certified soccer coach. His wife, Mendy, is an executive VP and corporate recruiter for Price Waterhouse Coopers and they have five children, Jack, Grayson, Ryann, Molly and Lucas.
Dr. Kelsey Sparrow
Dr. Kelsey Sparrow grew up in south Overland Park with several dogs, guinea pigs, rats, and fish and is a graduate of Blue Valley High School. She attended the University of Kentucky and holds a B.A. in Political Science and a B.B.A. in Business Management with a minor in International Business.
Dr. Sparrow graduated cum laude with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While in school, she was heavily involved with the Veterinary Business Management Association at the university and national levels. She completed over 32 hours of additional business education and earned a Gold Certificate for doing so. Currently, Dr. Sparrow is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Sparrow has an interest in behavior, dentistry, surgery, and end-of-life/hospice care. She looks forward to getting to know you and your pets!
Dr. Sparrow's four-legged family members include her miniature Australian shepherds Lexie and Bella, her rough collie Louie, and her guinea pigs, Coconut and Kiwi. In her spare time, Dr. Sparrow enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, watching the Royals and the Kentucky Wildcats, horseback riding, and reading.
Dr. Courtney Gibbs
Dr. Courtney Gibbs pursued her dream of working with companion animals by graduating from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She began her career in Lawrence, KS and has practiced for the past 8 years in La Grange Park, IL, a western suburb of Chicago.
Dr. Gibbs is happy to be back in Jayhawk territory and close to family again. She is committed to forming strong health care partnerships with clients and enhancing patient quality of life through individualized treatment plans. She especially loves geriatric medicine, feisty cats, and helping stray/rescued animals.
She shares her passion for pets with her husband, Joe, who is also a veterinarian. They have two adopted children (Olivia and Camden) that bring joy and spontaneity to every day. Their animal family includes 2 guinea pigs, a sweet miniature Australian shepherd, and 2 boisterous cats. In her free time, Dr. Gibbs enjoys camping, hiking, and reading a good book with a cat curled up in her lap.
